Koç University was founded in 1993 as a non-profit private university in Istanbul, Turkey. Since its establishment, Koç University has become one of the leading universities in Turkey, distinguished by notable contributions to the elevation of education, knowledge and service both domestically and beyond. Koç University is now (2012) ranked among the World’s top 250 universities by the THE (Times Higher Education) rankings (225-250).

Who can apply?

Students can study abroad in their Junior Honours year only. The Erasmus Exchange with Koç Üniversitesi is open to all students on the History degree, Mediaeval History degree (single and joint honours), Modern History degree (single and joint honours) and Middle East Studies degree programme. Single honours students can apply to study for a year or a semester. Joint honours students will require the permission of the School of their second subject before they submit their application. Unless the School of their second subject has expressly permitted it, joint honours students can apply to study in Koç for one semester only.

The language of instruction for all History modules on offer at the university is English. Koç offers a 3-credits beginner level Turkish language class (which is not required)
