So, you want to study abroad in … Strasbourg

strasbourgStrasbourg is a modern and multicultural city with centuries of history making it an exciting place for students to live and study abroad. Strasbourg is home to the European Parliament, the Council of Europe, and European Court of Human Rights and has tradition for excellence in education and history. Also known as IEP, the Institut d’Études Politiques Strasbourg, or Sciences Po, was founded on 9 October 1945. In January 2009, it became part of the Université de Strasbourg. IEP Strasbourg excels in a wide range of disciplines such as Law, Economics, History, Sociology and Political Science.

Who can apply?

Students can study abroad in their Junior Honours year only. The Exchange with the Institut d’Etudes Politiques, Sciences Po, Strasbourg is open to all students on the Modern History degree programme (single and joint honours) and the History degree programme. Single honours Modern History Students can apply to study in Strasbourg for a semester or a year.

Joint honours students will require the permission of the School of their second subject before they submit their application. Unless the School of their second subject has expressly permitted it, Modern History joint honours students can apply to study in Strasbourg for one semester only. Similarly, as the Institut d’Etudes Politiques does not offer Ancient History or Mediaeval History modules students taking the History degree can apply to study in Strasbourg for one semester only.

The language of instruction for most of the relevant modules on offer at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques is French. Therefore we require a certain level of proficiency in French and students applying for this exchange programme will be required to sit a French language test.

The deadline for next year’s programmes is Friday 22 February 2013.
