At the invitation of the Institute of Scottish Historical Research, Professor Fredrik Jonsson (Chicago) spoke on Enlightenment’s Frontier: the Scottish Highlands and the Origins of Environmentalism. The Principal of the University, Prof. Louise Richardson, presented the opening address, and the Historiographer Royal in Scotland, Prof. T. C. Smout, addressed the audience at its end.
